GPU remembers what you were doing


After a reboot from Windows 10 to (Arch) Linux, there are still traces of my Windows session accessible to linux. Just taking a plain screenshot reveals images (bottom right) from a page I was visiting in Google Chrome.

My guess would be that these are the data imprinted in RAM of my GPU (GTX 560 Ti with 1 GB RAM).

PC has been just “hot” rebooted so the RAM is still powered on and the data is kept. That’s OK with me if I’m the only one using the PC. However does this mean that if I select logout in Windows (without pulling the cord), another user could possibly access data from my session? Scary…
